It was a blued 257WBY with the grey HTI stock. I have seen an early one with the serial VB005XXX.
Just as a point of interest, the S2 series appears to have a new series of numbers. That may seem obvious, but many companies start with something like 100001, etc. Does anybody out there have one?Īll numbers appear to with serial number 00001 or possibly 0001 in some series. There may be others which I have not seen. I assume that all the VL series are lightweight and all the VX are deluxe, but more research needs to be done on that front.
There is a V series and VL series and a VX series in addition to the VS series which I have already mentioned in my earlier post. Others have a W prefix which I believe are the earliest ones. So if the serial number prefixes for the Vanguard are not in alphabetic order (VA, VB, VC, etc.), just what are the serial number prefixes?
